Job summary

Tufts Medicine is seeking an entry-level anesthesia support professional to assist with patient care in the operating room and during anesthesia preparation. The role involves equipment setup, inventory, and coordination with clinicians to ensure smooth workflow within a surgical suite.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Associate degree preferred; EMT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists anesthesiologists and nursing staff with patient transfers and preparation of equipment.
• Changes soda-lime containers according to guidelines.
• Sets up IV solutions, arterial lines and equipment for anesthesiologists.
• Orders daily anesthesia supplies and replaces equipment as needed.
• Reports equipment malfunctions to the OR and maintains maintenance records.
• Checks battery-operated anesthesia equipment for proper operation.
• Conducts weekly inventory and orders supplies.
• Participates in infection control and cleans anesthesia equipment.
• Assists secretary with clerical duties at the control desk.
• Maintains anesthesia/OR library and catalog files.
• Checks emergency and anesthesia carts; stocks scopes and supplies.
• Checks inventory, pulls outdated items, updates labels.
• Sets up and calibrates invasive monitor transducers.
• Operates glucometer when necessary.
