Tufts Medicine is seeking an Environmental Services/Operating Room Support role to assist with room turnover, transport patients and equipment, and prepare procedural areas for surgeries including advanced cardiac cases.

The position requires a high school diploma, with an Associate’s degree preferred, and involves following strict safety, HIPAA, and sterile techniques in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists Environmental Services with room turnover; sets up specialized equipment and OR tables for next case.
• Transports patients and equipment to the OR and ensures delivery of sterile items throughout the case.
• Transports blood products and specimens between locations such as Blood Bank, Mammography, Pathology, Cytology.
• Assists transfer of patient from OR table to bed under clinical care team guidance.
• Ensures OR table and positioning devices are secured for patient support.
• Assists in positioning patients for procedures and holds extremities for skin prep.
• Maintains cleanliness in procedural areas and keeps core zones free of obstructions.
• Maintains medical gas tank exchanges safely and responds to alarms.
• Restocks fluids and linens, labels with expiration dates, discards expired items.
• Returns carts, kits, and scopes to Central Processing; may assist with decontamination.
• Maintains biohazard sharps containers; exchanges in soiled utility room.
• Adheres to JCAHO, CMS, DPH, and HIPAA regulations.
• Rotates through oriented procedural units; collaborates with team.
• Assists leadership on process improvement initiatives focusing on safety and efficiency.
• Responds to Vocera calls promptly and logs into the correct group at shift start.
• Meets on-call requirements; clocks in within 45 minutes of being called.
• Demonstrates knowledge of specialized tables and equipment; assists with items as needed.
• Maintains general cleanliness of linen, trash, and recycling receptacles.
