Lancaster County Wide Communications is hiring a full-time 9-1-1 Telecommunicator I to learn and perform call taking and dispatching duties. This entry-level role progresses toward a Telecommunicator II after completing the first year of employment.

The position requires operating multiple communication systems, following PEMA protocols, and maintaining precise CAD data entry. Comprehensive benefits accompany the role in a supportive public-safety environment.

Qualifications

• Must obtain certifications: CLEAN, CPR, JNET, PEMA Approved Protocols, NCMEC, FEMA, IS-100, and 700.
• Must pass a 25 wpm typing test and a skill-based test.
• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, multi-tasking work environment.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance per handbook.
• Must provide own transportation to meetings and trainings.

Responsibilities

• Operate computer systems, telephone systems, and radio equipment efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Navigate PEMA protocols correctly to determine caller situation and dispatch.
• Enter caller information into CAD and queue calls to the 9-1-1 Telecommunicator.
• Enter and verify data and hit confirmations in state police and FBI systems.
• Receive and transmit messages with local/state/public safety agencies; participate in ongoing training.
