Job summary

The City of San Diego’s Department of Information Technology seeks a Network Coordinator to support and enhance the enterprise network program, ensuring secure, resilient, and modern network services for City operations.

Reporting to the Enterprise Network Manager, you will lead network projects, coordinate with City departments and vendors, and help standardize processes and documentation across the organization. Strong communication and project-management skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in network operations and support.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with network operations and support.
  • Develop, implement and maintain network policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Manage Citywide and department-specific network projects.
  • Coordinate City departments, IT management, Subject Matter Experts and other stakeholders to provide network services.
  • Work with other IT groups and City departments to promote the enterprise network strategy as well as the supporting architecture, implementation, and security requirements.
  • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory, life cycle management and related documentation.
  • Review, conduct research, and make recommendations for improvements within the City's network program.
  • Regularly evaluate and stay abreast of the latest network technologies and principles
  • Serve as an escalation point for network-related issues, ensuring that complex, high-impact, or unresolved problems are routed appropriately to engineering teams, vendors, or management.
  • Monitor the network for performance, fault and security issues and respond accordingly.
  • Support network infrastructure planning design and implementation activities.
  • Oversee MACD, network equipment installation and configuration and other site provisioning services.
  • Coordinate site surveys and work with customers to gather and translate business needs into technical requirements.
  • Manage third party vendor(s) to properly deliver network services.
  • Work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with tight time constraints.
  • Respond to network issues or questions in a professional and timely manner.
