Job summary

San Diego State University seeks a Senior Network Engineer/Architect to shape SDSU’s campus and research network infrastructure. You will architect large-scale wired/wireless, WAN, data center, and cloud-connected networks while guiding modernization from design to deployment.

You will blend hands-on engineering with long-term strategy, ensuring security, resilience, and scalable performance across the university’s network. Advanced certifications are a plus.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field and five years of relevant experience.
• Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP, switching, routing, network security, wireless technologies, protocols, and architectures.
• Experience with enterprise networking platforms such as Aruba, ALE, Palo Alto, Infoblox, ClearPass, or comparable technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve highly available enterprise wired and wireless networks including data center and cloud-connected environments.
• Lead complex, university-wide infrastructure projects from design through deployment.
• Provide architectural direction, standards, and runbooks for network engineering teams.
