Job summary

The Network Coordinator role within the City of San Diego's Department of Information Technology (IT) supports the enterprise network program by ensuring secure, resilient, and modern network services for City operations. You will work with the Enterprise Network Manager to coordinate projects, develop policies, and align activities with the IT strategy.

Key duties include policy development, project management, vendor coordination, documentation, and cross‑department collaboration to maintain

Qualifications

• Minimum of four (4) years of experience in network operations and support.
• Strong knowledge of firewall management, DMZ, WAN/LAN, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and monitoring.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills.
• Ability to translate business needs into actionable technical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate City departments, IT management, subject matter experts and other stakeholders to provide network services.
• Develop, implement and maintain network policies, processes, and procedures.
• Manage Citywide and department-specific network projects.
• Monitor network performance, fault and security issues and respond accordingly.
• Serve as escalation point for network-related issues and coordinate with engineering teams and vendors.
• Oversee MACD, network equipment installation and site provisioning.
• Maintain network asset management and documentation.
• Coordinate site surveys and translate business needs into technical requirements.
