Job summary

The City of Durham’s Technology Solutions Department is hiring an IT Support Engineer to deliver enterprise technology support, governance, and system administration across city services. Travel to City buildings may be required; 8am–5pm work hours and a focus on problem resolution are expected.

Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in IT or CS, 2 years of related experience, and the ability to obtain NC driver’s license and certifications within 6 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in information technology, computer science, or a directly related field.
• Two years of related experience.
• Valid, unrestricted North Carolina driver’s license (or ability to obtain NC license within 60 days of hire).
• Must obtain Dell Client Foundations Certification within 6 months of hire.
• Must obtain CJIS Security and Privacy: Privileged Role Certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides ongoing technical support to software, hardware, network and related systems; troubleshoots issues and supports operations.
• Assesses needs, researches solutions, and extracts data for reports and documentation.
• Coordinates with departments to provide user and systems support and conducts training as assigned.
• Installs patches, upgrades, and participates in projects; may manage smaller projects.
