Job summary

High Point University is seeking a Systems Specialist of Information Technology to administer, configure, maintain, and optimize enterprise applications supporting university operations and instructional services. The role includes supporting multiple applications, ensuring high availability, and documenting configurations and integrations.

You will work within the Enterprise Application Services Team while assisting colleagues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field.
• 2-5 years supporting enterprise level applications and services (ERP, HRM, LMS, CMS).
• 1-3 years’ experience with Database, Web, or Application programming.
• Experience with one or more languages (C#, PHP, SQL, SSIS).
• Experience with Colleague, Blackboard Learn, Blackboard Transact highly desirable.
• Experience creating ETL packages and XML transforms.

Responsibilities

• Server and application administration for enterprise systems.
• Serve as primary system administrator for university Student Self-Service and BI (Reporting) systems.
• Analyze system logs to detect and prevent performance issues.
• Perform annual audits of system access.
• Provide level 2 technical support for enterprise systems.
• Monitor and apply upgrades/patches per Change Management Process.
• Manage SQL Server and MySQL database backups.
• Document configurations and data integrations using defined standards.
• Develop and maintain data flow diagrams and system inventories.
• Design, develop, test, and deploy sustainable code structures that meet business requirements.
• Design, develop, test, and deploy data integrations to automate manual processes.
• Collaborate with users and OIT teams on problem analysis and delivery activities.
• Understand project requirements and recommend sustainable solutions for defined needs.
• Serve as technical contact for ERP and CRM data systems and enterprise applications.
• Respond to user support requests within 1 business day.
• Resolve at least 90% of Help Desk tickets within 3 business days.
• Maintain 99.9% user satisfaction on follow-up surveys.
• Prioritize allocation of time/resources per Manager.
• Maximize existing university investments and leverage systems to solve problems.
• Eliminate repetitive manual processes.
• Identify impacts of new systems/processes and guide implementation for reliability.
• Coordinate with OIT staff, users, and vendors on security, sustainability, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
• Interpret meaning and importance of information; determine need and method for keeping teams informed.
• Use plain language in all communications.
• Keep systems and process documentation updated within 3 business days of approved changes.
• Document systems and processes per defined standards.
• Engage in discussions and meetings.
• Establish project timelines with OIT management; deliver sustainable solutions within budget.
• Independently manage assigned tasks and project components.
• Demonstrate attention to detail throughout system lifecycle.
• Establish partnerships with business units to coordinate problem resolution; analyze root causes.
• Develop documentation/training for campus users.
• Coordinate with users and vendors to resolve issues.
