Job summary

Vectara is seeking an experienced Sales Engineer to connect customers with the magic of our product and align capabilities to business opportunities. You will be the technical face of the company, partnering with Sales, Customer Success, and Professional Services to drive adoption and satisfaction.

You will collaborate with Product, Engineering, and ML teams to articulate customer needs, respond to RFIs/RFPs, and guide customers from evaluation to production.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Sales Engineering in AI/ML, data analytics or related fields.
• Experience selling to AI/Data/IT enterprises.
• 2+ years of Professional Services or internal development in large enterprises.
• Experience with agentic AI development including context layer and agent harness.
• Python and/or Java development experience.
• Experience building apps that consume REST services.
• Understanding cloud-based platforms with SaaS, VPC, multi-tenancy, automation.
• On-premise systems understanding incl. GPUs, virtualization (K8s), networking.
• Strong communication and storytelling to present product narratives.
• Will travel up to 20%.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical product expertise to customers.
• Conduct demos, including custom-built ones.
• Assist with proofs of concept (POCs).
• Support architecture, design, and development for customers.
• Scope and plan Professional Services projects.
• Evaluate retrieval and agentic pipelines for enterprise requirements.
• Respond persuasively to RFIs/RFPs with technical detail.
• Hold regular check-ins with customers about new features and expansion opportunities.
• Communicate feedback to internal teams to improve product and processes.
