Job summary

Itron is seeking a senior AI Security Architect to define and lead enterprise AI security strategy, architecture, and multi-year roadmaps. You will design controls across the AI lifecycle and establish guardrails for generative AI platforms, APIs, plugins, and automation workflows.

You will collaborate with engineering and product teams to embed secure-by-design principles, conduct threat modeling, risk assessments, and security reviews, and guide governance on privacy, transparency, and ethics

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in cybersecurity, security architecture, cloud security, identity and access management, application security, or related technical discipline.
• 2+ years of experience working with AI-enabled systems, ML environments, automation platforms, or generative AI technologies.
• Hands-on experience securing agentic systems, AI orchestration platforms, non-human identity solutions, model integrations, and automated workflows.
• Experience implementing security controls for cloud platforms, APIs, identity services, secrets management, data protection, logging, monitoring, and third-party integrations.
• Proven experience in threat modeling, architecture reviews, security assessments, control validations, and cyber risk evaluations.
• Background in secure software development, DevSecOps, CI/CD security, container security, software supply chain security, or product security reviews.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead AI security strategy, architecture, policies, standards, and multi-year roadmap.
• Design and implement security controls across the AI and agent lifecycle.
• Establish scalable guardrails for generative AI platforms, model integrations, APIs, plugins, automation workflows, and agentic ecosystems.
• Develop governance controls for privacy, data protection, transparency, explainability, accountability, ethical AI use, and bias mitigation.
• Lead AI-focused threat modeling, adversarial testing, security reviews, and risk assessments.
• Evaluate and mitigate AI threats including prompt injection, tool misuse, privilege escalation, and AI supply chain risks.
• Partner with engineering, product, and architecture teams to embed secure-by-design principles.
• Design and pilot AI-assisted cybersecurity capabilities for detection engineering, threat hunting, vulnerability management, and alert triage.
• Define security logging, telemetry, monitoring, alerting, and reporting requirements.
• Develop and operate AI Security Posture Management capabilities.
• Conduct security assessments of AI vendors, platforms, and service providers.
• Provide technical leadership for AI incidents, governance decisions, policy exceptions, and risk acceptance reviews.
• Author technical standards, reference architectures, implementation guidance, and executive communications.
• Mentor engineers, architects, and security practitioners.
• Stay current on AI technologies, regulations, attack techniques, and security best practices.
