Job summary

Ford Credit seeks a Principal AI Architect to shape its enterprise AI strategy and deliver secure, cloud-native systems. This leadership role manages AI, cloud, and security architects, setting standards, roadmaps, and practical implementation plans across business and technology teams.

The role focuses on AI-enabled platforms, agentic workflows, and modernizing legacy systems with reusable patterns, while ensuring risk-managed delivery and auditable decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, cybersecurity, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 12 years of progressive technology experience with 8+ years in architecture roles and cross-domain decisions.
• Experience architecting and operating enterprise AI/ML systems in production, incl. generative AI and agentic workflows.
• Deep cloud architecture experience on Google Cloud or comparable cloud and strong security architecture expertise.
• Strong understanding of AI safety, risk, and enterprise delivery standards.
• Ability to communicate complex technical and investment trade-offs to executives and engineers.

Responsibilities

• Define Ford Credit’s multi-year enterprise AI architecture strategy, targets, roadmaps, standards, and priorities.
• Build an AI-native software delivery lifecycle with explicit specs, bounded execution, and evidence loops.
• Create reusable patterns for architecture manifests, plans, contracts, and evidence bundles.
• Architect production agentic systems integrating models, retrieval, tools, memory, orchestration, permissions, and evaluation.
• Define autonomy level gates, human oversight, and auditable decision trails for consequential actions.
• Establish evaluation practices including automated testing, adversarial testing, and production monitoring.
• Develop patterns for enterprise knowledge provenance, retrieval, and durable memory.
• Design and govern scalable AI platforms on Google Cloud (Vertex AI, Gemini, GKE, Cloud Run, BigQuery, Pub/Sub).
• Embed Zero-Trust, IAM, data protection, software supply-chain security, and incident response into AI/cloud architectures.
• Guide modernization of hybrid/legacy systems with modular architectures and APIs.
• Translate decisions into reference architectures, roadmaps, validators, and runbooks.
• Advise leaders across engineering, cybersecurity, data, privacy, risk, procurement, and operations.
• Lead and develop an architecture team with clear priorities and succession planning.
• Utilize enterprise-approved AI tools for research, prototyping, and drafting while preserving confidentiality.
