Job summary

Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. seeks a Principal Software Engineer, Agentic Software Engineering to define multi-year technical vision across the enterprise. You will set the architecture and engineering direction as the most senior individual contributor and mentor Sr. Staff engineers.

You will represent Bio-Rad in external forums, drive cross-unit technical strategy, and lead the ongoing development of agentic software practices in a regulated scientific environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 12+ years of software engineering experience with enterprise-wide technical vision-setting.
• 4+ years hands-on experience with agentic or AI-assisted development tools.
• Mentoring Sr. Staff engineers and external representation through industry activities.
• Preferred: experience in clinical diagnostics or life sciences industries.
• Preferred: experience building multi-omics capable systems.

Responsibilities

• Supports execution of the technical vision for agentic software engineering across the enterprise.
• Serve as the final technical authority on the most consequential architecture and engineering decisions.
• Represent Bio-Rad’s engineering function in external forums, industry standards bodies, and executive-level discussions.
• Drive enterprise-wide technical strategy spanning multiple business units and domains.
• Mentor Sr. Staff engineers and contribute to senior technical leadership development.
