Job summary

The Modern, a Michelin-starred restaurant in New York City, is seeking a Host to join the Union Square Hospitality Group family. You will be the first point of contact for guests, ensuring a warm reception and smooth seating coordination with the Maître D’ across both dining room dining and Bar Room experiences.

Role involves presenting accurate wait times, answering inquiries about hours, menus, and reservations, and collaborating with service and kitchen teams.

Qualifications

• Experience in a guest-facing role in a restaurant is preferred but not required.
• Basic understanding of Resy functions.
• Ability to walk or stand for long periods.
• English fluency; additional languages are a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Consistently support a culture of Enlightened Hospitality.
• Create a welcoming environment for guests in person or over the phone.
• Partner with Maître D to quote accurate wait times while finding the yes for guests.
• Answer guest inquiries regarding hours of operation, menus, and reservations.
• Act as a liaison between guests, management, service staff and kitchen and communicate accordingly.
• Work with efficiency and a sense of urgency while remaining composed.
• Demonstrate a passion for guest experience and a willingness to learn and grow.
• Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support team goals and operations.
