Job summary

The Modern, a Michelin-starred contemporary American restaurant at MoMA, seeks a Host to be the warm first impression for guests in the dining room and Bar Room. You will coordinate seating with the Maître D and help manage wait times, reservations, and inquiries with a focus on Enlightened Hospitality.

We value someone who can communicate clearly, work efficiently, and grow within a collaborative team at Union Square Hospitality Group. This is an on-site role in New York City.

Qualifications

• Experience in a guest facing role in a restaurant is preferred but not required.
• Basic understanding of Resy functions.
• Ability to walk or stand for long periods of time.
• English fluency and additional languages are a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Consistently support a culture of Enlightened Hospitality.
• Create a welcoming and hospitable environment for guests in person or over the phone.
• Partner with Maître D to quote accurate wait times and accommodate guests.
• Respond to guest inquiries about hours, menus, and reservations.
• Act as liaison between guests, management, service staff, and kitchen and communicate accordingly.
• Work efficiently and remain composed with a sense of urgency.
• Demonstrate passion for guest experience and opportunity to learn and grow.
• Perform additional duties as needed to support team objectives.
