Job summary

Chicago Public Schools seeks an English Learner Program Teacher (ELPT) to serve as a school-level instructional leader for multilingual learners. The role requires a valid Illinois PEL with ESL or TBE endorsement and focuses on educational equity and rigorous language development.

The ELPT coaches PreK–12 teachers, analyzes data to target gaps, and oversees language proficiency assessments like ACCESS for ELLs, collaborating with OLCE and IL ISBE standards integration.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) issued by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) with an ESL or Transitional Bilingual Education (TBE) endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional leadership by coaching PreK–12 classroom teachers on language acquisition theory and WIDA ELD standards integration.
• Analyze student data to identify performance gaps and recommend MTSS interventions for language learners.
• Oversee administration of language proficiency assessments, including screening new students and coordinating ACCESS for ELLs.
• Maintain accurate student profiles and service records, prepare documents for state program reviews, and collaborate with Special Education staff on accommodations and dual-service delivery.
• Foster family and community partnerships, establish BAC, and advocate for translation and outreach services for multilingual families.
