Job summary

Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 seeks a part-time Parent Liaison for English Learning to connect district families with EL programs. The role requires travel between district schools, evening hours, and discretion with sensitive information.

The position supports family involvement, BPAC meetings, and translation needs, reporting to the Director of English Learner Programs and working across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Paraprofessional certification preferred
• Additional college coursework preferred
• Experience coordinating activities and events preferred
• Excellent oral and written communication in English AND Spanish or Arabic
• Computer and technology skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Willingness and ability to travel to various schools within the Oak Lawn-Hometown School District

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate support of the Oak Lawn-Hometown School District #123 Strategic Framework.
• Uphold the established Board of Education policies, regulations, and administrative procedures.
• Promote EL parent/guardian involvement in school and District functions and activities.
• Plan, coordinate, and attend EL Family Engagement nights and Bilingual Parent Advisory Committee (BPAC) meetings.
• Find, organize, and update materials and resources available to EL families.
• Assist with translation and interpretation as necessary.
• Assist with native language proficiency assessments.
• Serve as a new family mentor to EL families who are new to D123.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records, family information, staff information, and program documentation.
• Communicate and cooperate with colleagues, students, parents/guardians, and the community as needed to meet professional standards.
• Participate in meetings and perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of English Learner Programs or designee in accordance with the Board of Education.
• Utilize time management techniques to organize and prioritize work.
• Regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.
