Job summary

Gull Lake Community Schools in Michigan seeks an English Language Arts teacher for middle school to foster excellence in literacy under the direction of the principal. The position is 1.0 FTE with start ASAP for the 2026-27 school year.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging instruction, maintain a positive classroom environment, monitor progress in Skyward and Google Classroom, and participate in PLCs and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree in Education required.

English Language Arts Teacher - Middle School

1.0 FTE

September 3, 2026

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the principal, the teacher will be working with middle school students to achieve excellence in the area of English Language Arts.

Qualifications:

Required:

  1. Minimum of BS/BA degree in Education
  2. Possess or be eligible for a valid Michigan teaching certificate with an endorsement in English Language Arts (BA)
  3. Meet all the requirements as a highly qualified teacher
  4. Able to assess and document student progress
  5. Professional in personal conduct and actions
  6. Excellent communication skills
  7. Meets federal Every Student Succeeds Act requirements

Desired Characteristics:

  1. Successful experience in working with and teaching middle school students
  2. Experience using technology as an instructional tool in the classroom
  3. Experience in working within a Professional Learning Community using data to drive instruction
  4. Experience using standards to drive instruction, assessment, and grading practices
  5. Knowledge of Google Workspace application

Duties:

  1. Provide instruction to middle school students
  2. Provide and maintain an orderly classroom environment
  3. Monitor and document student progress through Skyward student information system and Google Classroom
  4. Work independently and cooperatively using a variety of instructional, literacy, and engagement strategies
  5. Ability to plan and organize; excellent work habits
  6. Willing to attend conferences and participate in professional development
  7. Perform other duties as assigned by administration
