Job summary

Wichita State University seeks a part-time GEEKs Tutoring Center peer tutor to support College of Engineering students through course-specific tutoring and a welcoming learning environment. The role fosters persistence, confidence, and engagement.

The student assistant performs administrative and technical tasks, may mentor others, and collaborates with GEEKs staff. On-site work is required with schedule TBD by the supervisor.

Qualifications

• Must be work-study eligible.
• Must be enrolled as a Wichita State University student.
• Must have completed the courses they will tutor with strong academic performance.
• Maintain good academic standing.
• Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
• Ability to work scheduled shifts throughout the semester.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring for College of Engineering courses.
• Assist students in developing effective study strategies and problem-solving skills.
• Maintain accurate tutoring records and complete required documentation.
• Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and professional learning environment.
• Collaborate with GEEKs staff and participate in required training and meetings.
• Refer students to additional campus resources when appropriate.
