Job summary

North Wind Services is seeking an Engineering Technician V to support National Ignition Facility operations at LLNL in Livermore, CA. You will install and maintain diagnostic hardware, including large optics up to 70 lbs, and perform QA inspections under strict safety and DOE clearance requirements.

The role requires a strong mechanical/electrical background, ability to work in a 24/7 facility, and readiness to obtain Q clearance.

Qualifications

• A.A. or equivalent in mechanical/electrical tech with 4+ years experience or military background.
• Ability to learn and operate computer control/data acquisition systems for large facilities.
• Strong adherence to safety procedures and capability to work in radiologically controlled environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide mechanical support for installation, operation, repair, and maintenance of NIF mechanical systems.
• Install/align/diagnose NIF optics and subsystems per procedures; document diagnostics.
• Operate in a 24/7 facility with potential overtime and shift work; support shot operations.
