Who We Are

Maritime Operations within Mission Technologies - Nuclear & Environmental Services, seeks an Engineering Technician 3 in Newport News, VA. This role supports Newport News Shipyard, specifically in the Nuclear Propulsion Division supporting Nuclear Test Engineering.

What You Will Do

  • Provide technical support to engineers on various technical tasks.
  • Gather, maintain, format, compile, and manipulate technical data, including test results and design changes.
  • Produce engineering documentation, reports, drawings, flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics.
  • Perform detailed mathematical calculations and preliminary data analyses following established guidelines.
  • Use personal computers for analyses and documentation development.
  • Conduct tests and record data to assist engineering evaluations.

What You Must Have

  • Associate’s Degree or technical degree in a related discipline with 3 years’ experience, OR High School Diploma with 5 years’ DoD/USN experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Prior Navy nuclear propulsion, DOE, or commercial nuclear power experience.

Bonus Points For Having!

  • Actively pursuing an ABET-accredited engineering bachelor’s degree.
  • Prior nuclear operations or work control experience.
  • Navy Nuclear Power School graduate.
  • Four years of related manufacturing, shipbuilding, or trades experience.

Physical Requirements

Requires adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity. Usually performed in a waterfront office environment.
