Who We Are

HII Mission Technologies, Newport News Direct Support Division, seeks a Monitoring Systems Technician for The Non-Propulsion Electronics Systems Virginia Class Submarine (VCS) Team at Newport News Shipbuilding. This on-site role requires strong technical knowledge of COTS electronics used on VCS, with preferred experience in electronics and electrical maintenance on Virginia Class Submarines. This is not a remote position.

What You Will Do

  1. Provide technical support to engineers on various tasks.
  2. Maintain and manipulate technical data, including test results and design changes.
  3. Create engineering documents, reports, and diagrams.
  4. Perform mathematical calculations and preliminary data analyses.
  5. Use computers for analysis and documentation.
  6. Conduct tests and record data for evaluations.
  7. Lead testing, maintenance, and operation of the Total Ships Monitoring System (TSMS) and CKT D System.
  8. Perform system software/hardware testing to ensure proper operation.
  9. Complete TSMS and CKT D subsystem operability testing successfully.

What You Must Have

  • AA or other 2-year technical degree with 3 years related experience, or HS diploma with 5 years related experience.
  • Prior experience on Virginia Class Submarines.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance.
  • Effective communication skills with internal and external customers.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience in system software/hardware testing per standards.
  • Experience in generating Preliminary Problem Reports and assisting in resolution.

Physical Requirements

Requires visual acuity and manual dexterity. Typically performed in a waterfront office environment.
