Who We Are

Maritime Operations within Mission Technologies - Nuclear & Environmental Services, seeks an Engineering Technician 4 to join our Newport News, VA team.

Technicians support various functions at Newport News Shipyard, specifically supporting Newport News Shipbuilding in the Nuclear Propulsion Division, focusing on Nuclear Test Engineering.

What You Will Do

• Provide technical support to engineers on various tasks.
• Gather, maintain, format, compile, and manipulate technical data, including test results and design changes.
• Produce engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, diagrams, schematics).
• Perform detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas.
• Conduct preliminary data analyses within guidelines.
• Use personal computers for analyses and report development.
• Assist with tests and record data for engineering evaluation.

What You Must Have

• Associates Degree or related 2-year technical degree plus 6 years of experience, or High School Diploma and 8 years of related DoD/USN experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
• U.S. citizenship.
• Prior Navy nuclear propulsion, Department of Energy, or commercial nuclear power experience.

Bonus Points For Having

• Actively pursuing an ABET-accredited bachelor's degree in engineering.
• Prior nuclear operations or work control experience.
• Navy Nuclear Power School graduate.
• Four years of related manufacturing, shipbuilding, or trades experience.

Physical Requirements

Requires adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity. Typically, a waterfront office environment.
