Job summary

Daikin Applied in Plymouth, MN is hiring an Engineering Technician III for our lab expansion. This on-site role focuses on assembling prototype HVAC units, wiring, instrumentation, and setting up test rigs to support product development.

You will troubleshoot, document procedures, train peers, and uphold EH&S and quality standards. Associate degree in HVAC&R or related experience; preferred mentorship exposure and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in HVAC&R or related experience.
• Experience related to mechanical test lab or field service (preferred).
• Fork truck training/license, Man lift training/license, Universal card, or R410a card (preferred).
• Mentorship experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Assemble prototype HVAC units from BOMs, SolidWorks CAD models, drawings, schematics, and Engineering direction.
• Install instrumentation on test units per standard lab methods.
• Set up and operate complex laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Identify and report nonconformities to engineering and design stakeholders.
• Provide solutions to mechanical/electrical problems and product improvement to engineering stakeholders.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and uphold EH&S policies.
• Obtain and maintain forklift/scissor lift/refrigerant handling certifications as required.
• Perform test unit setup and document activities per lab procedures.
• Improve laboratory activities on a continuous basis.
• Implement corrective and preventative actions.
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and repair test units and facilities.
• Provide direction and training to other technicians (senior roles).

Location: Plymouth, MN - onsite

Shift Hours: 1st Shift: 7am - 3:30pm Monday - Friday

Your Responsibilities:

• Assemble prototype HVAC units from BOMs, SolidWorks CAD models, drawings, schematics, and Engineering direction. Assembly includes sheet metal construction, copper brazing, insulation, and electrical circuit wiring


• Install instrumentation on test units per standard lab methods


• Set up and operate complex laboratory equipment and instruments


• Identify and report nonconformities to engineering and design stakeholders


• Provide thoughtful solutions to difficult mechanical/ electrical problems and product improvement to engineering stakeholders


• Ensure standards, policies, procedures, and maintenance of a clean work area are upheld at all times


• Maintain a working knowledge of EH&S safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner


• Maintain effective communication with laboratory and project teams


• Obtain fork truck training/license, scissor lift training/license, or refrigerant handling certifications


• Perform test unit setup according to lab procedures and test request requirements


• Create records of prototype build activities and document them according to laboratory procedures


• Improve laboratory activities on a continuous basis


• Implement corrective and preventative actions


• Analyze, troubleshoot, and repair test units and facilities


• Provide direction, assistance and training to other technicians (senior roles only)

• The typical hourly rate for this position ranges from $23.65 to $50.77 in Minnesota. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
