Job summary

Daikin Applied in Plymouth, MN, on site, invites an Engineering Technician III to contribute to a lab expansion. The role involves assembling prototype HVAC units, installing instrumentation, and operating complex lab equipment.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in HVAC&R or related experience.
• Experience in mechanical test lab or field service preferred.
• Fork truck training, Man lift training, Universal card, or R410a card preferred.
• Mentorship experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assemble prototype HVAC units from BOMs, SolidWorks CAD models, drawings, schematics, and engineering direction.
• Install instrumentation on test units per standard lab methods.
• Set up and operate complex laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Identify and report nonconformities to engineering and design stakeholders.
• Provide solutions to mechanical/electrical problems and product improvements to engineering stakeholders.
• Maintain a clean work area and comply with EH&S safety policies.
• Obtain fork truck, scissor lift, or refrigerant handling certifications.
• Create records of prototype build activities and document them per lab procedures.
• Improve laboratory activities and implement corrective actions.
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and repair test units and facilities.
• Provide direction and training to other technicians (senior roles only).

Location: Plymouth, MN - onsite

Shift Hours

• 1st Shift: 6am - 2:30pm Monday - Friday

Your Responsibilities

• Assemble prototype HVAC units from BOMs, SolidWorks CAD models, drawings, schematics, and Engineering direction. Assembly includes sheet metal construction, copper brazing, insulation, and electrical circuit wiring
• Install instrumentation on test units per standard lab methods
• Set up and operate complex laboratory equipment and instruments
• Identify and report nonconformities to engineering and design stakeholders
• Provide thoughtful solutions to difficult mechanical/ electrical problems and product improvement to engineering stakeholders
• Ensure standards, policies, procedures, and maintenance of a clean work area are upheld at all times
• Maintain a working knowledge of EH&S safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner
• Maintain effective communication with laboratory and project teams
• Obtain fork truck training/license, scissor lift training/license, or refrigerant handling certifications
• Perform test unit setup according to lab procedures and test request requirements
• Create records of prototype build activities and document them according to laboratory procedures
• Improve laboratory activities on a continuous basis
• Implement corrective and preventative actions
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and repair test units and facilities
• Provide direction, assistance and training to other technicians (senior roles only)

Your Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in HVAC&R or related experience
• Experience related to mechanical test lab or field service (preferred)
• Fork truck training/license, Man lift training/license, Universal card, or R410a card (preferred)
• Mentorship experience (preferred)

The typical hourly rate for this position ranges from $23.65 to $50.77 in Minnesota. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
