Job summary

Daikin Applied in Plymouth, MN, is seeking an Engineering Technician III to join our lab expansion. The role involves assembling prototype HVAC units, installing instrumentation, and operating complex lab equipment to support product development.

The ideal candidate has an Associate’s degree in HVAC&R or related experience, with preferred lab or field service exposure and relevant training certificates. Onsite work with a strong safety and teamwork focus.

Qualifications

  • Must have or be pursuing an Associate's degree in HVAC&R or related field.
  • Experience in a mechanical test lab or field service is preferred.
  • Fork truck, man lift, universal card, or R-410A card are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble prototype HVAC units from BOMs, SolidWorks CAD models, drawings, schematics, and Engineering direction.
  • Assembly includes sheet metal construction, copper brazing, insulation, and electrical circuit wiring.
  • Install instrumentation on test units per standard lab methods.
  • Set up and operate complex laboratory equipment and instruments.
  • Identify and report nonconformities to engineering and design stakeholders.
  • Provide thoughtful solutions to difficult mechanical/ electrical problems and product improvement to engineering stakeholders.
  • Ensure standards, policies, procedures, and maintenance of a clean work area are upheld at all times.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of EH&S safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.
  • Maintain effective communication with laboratory and project teams.
  • Obtain fork truck training/license, scissor lift training/license, or refrigerant handling certifications.
  • Perform test unit setup according to lab procedures and test request requirements.
  • Create records of prototype build activities and document them according to laboratory procedures.
  • Improve laboratory activities on a continuous basis.
  • Implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and repair test units and facilities.
  • Provide direction, assistance and training to other technicians (senior roles only).

Location: Plymouth, MN - onsite Shift Hours: 1st Shift: 6am - 2:30pm Monday - Friday

The typical hourly rate for this position ranges from $23.65 to $50.77 in Minnesota.
