Job summary

Generac is seeking an Engineering Technician III to perform electrical, mechanical, and environmental tests on current and new product designs under close supervision.

You will support continuous improvement, identify and contain issues, develop action plans, and ensure test requirements are defined and met, including ISO 17025 scope and documentation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma
• 5 years of relevant work experience
• Ability to interpret measurements (temperature, pressure, etc.)
• Strong documentation and record-keeping skills
• Familiar with lab procedures and safety practices

Responsibilities

• Set up test equipment and products in testing sequences
• Perform tests on prototypes and existing products for mechanical, electrical, environmental functions
• Use various measurement devices to collect data
• Interpret and document measurements accurately
• Assist in assembling and fabricating test equipment per specs
• Follow guidelines for bill of materials and documentation
• Support manufacturing through troubleshooting and test documentation
• Prepare formal and informal test reports
• Assist with lab audits and 5S programs

The Engineering Technician III is responsible for performing electrical, mechanical, and environmental tests of current and new product designs under close supervision. Conducts continuous improvement activities to reduce the potential for product defects. Involved with problem identification, containment activities, action plan development and execution. Ensure that the test requirements for product testing and processes are defined and met.

Responsibilities

• Setup test equipment and products in proper sequence per testing procedures
• Perform tests on prototypes, existing, and competitor products for stated criteria involving mechanical, electrical, environmental, and electromechanical functions through ISO 17025 and Laboratory Scope of Operations
• Use various mechanical, electrical, and electronic measurement devices
• Accurately interpret and document scientific notation, temperature, pressure, and other measurements
• Assists in the assembly and fabrication of test equipment and prototype products per blueprint specifications
• Follow guidelines for bill of materials
• Support manufacturing through troubleshooting activities; Maintain test-related documentation in, and support administration of, database environment
• Prepare formal and informal test reports
• Assist with the Generac Engineering Laboratory Audit and organization 5S programs
