Job summary

The City of Lansing is seeking a full-time Engineering Technician II to join their professional team. This position utilizes technical engineering knowledge to ensure adherence to standards, policies, and procedures across sidewalk, street, sewer, and utility construction, as well as traffic control concepts and right-of-way management.

Ideal candidates will have an Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related field and at least two years of related construction/inspection

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management or related field.
• Two years of experience in sidewalk, roadway or underground utility construction and inspection.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Must obtain several certifications within specified timelines (as listed).

Responsibilities

• Inspect public works projects and ensure compliance with standards.
• Use computer aided applications to produce reports, schedules, and CAD-related outputs.
• Review and process permits and fees related to sewer, right-of-way, and drainage.
• Coordinate drain-layer and sewer licensing processes and inspections.
• Assist with survey and staking activities.
