Job summary

The City of Lansing is seeking an Engineering Technician II to join the professional team. The role focuses on technical engineering tasks, project inspections, and permit administration to support city standards and procedures.

Ideal candidates will hold an Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related field, with two years of relevant inspection experience and knowledge of construction practices and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management or related field.
• Two years of experience in sidewalk, roadway or underground utility construction and inspection.

Responsibilities

• Inspect public works sites and ensure compliance with standards and procedures.
• Utilize computer-assisted tools to generate reports, schedules and CAD drawings.
• Process sewer/permit fees, review permits and oversee license coordination for drain-layer and sewer workers.
• Assist with surveying and staking; support project inspections and contract administration.
• Maintain inspection logs and coordinate with contractors and city departments.
