Job summary

NC Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is seeking an Engineering Technician I for Lenoir County, NC. You will support field inspections, testing, surveying, and contract administration on highway construction projects.

You must have an Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Survey Technology or equivalent experience; willingness to obtain required testing certifications; and ability to work outside in varying conditions.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent combination of education/experience in Civil Eng Tech or Survey Tech.
• Experience in teamwork and customer service related to engineering concepts.
• Proficiency with computer equipment and plan reading.
• Experience maintaining standard daily records and reports.

Responsibilities

• Act as project inspector on roadway, utility, and structure projects.
• Support higher level technicians and engineers in contract administration.
• Perform field tests, sampling, inspection, and data processing as assigned.
• Operate a motor vehicle and work in varied conditions, including nights and weekends.
