Job summary

The State of North Carolina - Department of Transportation is seeking an Engineering Technician I (S) based in the Division 1 / District 2 Field Office in Ahoskie, NC. You will assist technicians and engineers in inspection, surveying, sampling, and testing, with data entered into Sharepoint/SharePlus.

Applicants should be able to perform outside work, lift 50 lbs, and obtain/maintain required certifications in testing. Some night/weekend hours may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking and completing projects.
• Apply engineering concepts to solve problems in field work.
• Maintain neat, legible records and reports.
• Know computer equipment, iPad, and related software.
• Understand construction, inspection and surveying concepts.

Responsibilities

• Support higher level technicians and engineers in construction inspection, surveying, sampling, testing, and traffic control.
• Enter project data into Sharepoint/SharePlus and maintain field records.
• Perform standardized field tests and data processing tasks.
• Maintain certifications for material sampling/testing and safety gear.
