Job summary

The State of North Carolina Department of Transportation seeks an Engineering Technician I (S) in Guilford County. Qualifications

• Experience working in a team environment to complete assignments.
• Knowledge and skill in the use of computer equipment, iPad and software.
• Experience in customer service and interacting with the general public.
• Knowledge and understanding of general concepts, practices, and theories used in construction, construction inspection, and/or construction surveying.
• Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking and completing projects independently or with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform construction inspection and materials testing.
• Assist with project surveying and review plans.
• Maintain project diaries and document pay records; perform material reports.
• Perform construction calculations and analyze engineering data.
• Acquire and maintain required certifications (QMS Asphalt, Concrete Testing, Borrow Pit Sampling, OSHA).
• Communicate effectively with engineers, contractors, and the general public.
