Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking an Engineering Technician to support drafting and design of highway and bridge plans. The role is part of a training program leading to placement in the Design Unit, performing tasks from creating plan sheets to field verifications.

Qualified candidates hold an associate degree in engineering tech or related fields, with eligibility within 3 months of graduation. A PA residency is required and telework may be possible after probation.

Qualifications

• An associate degree in surveying, drafting, designing, civil, or any engineering technology field.
• Applicants are considered eligible within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Responsibilities

• Drafting support: create highway and bridge plans using CADD tools and traditional drafting.
• Survey interpretation: translate survey data into clear plan sheets showing features.
• Plan preparation: develop drawings from sketches and notes.
• Design assistance: collaborate with designers to assemble project sets.
• Field participation: join field views and inspections to verify details.
• Data tools: use RMS and AutoTAB to collect info and generate summaries.
