Job summary

Innova Solutions is hiring an Engineering Technician in Palm Bay, FL for a 12-month contract (with potential to hire). The role covers electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, and optical testing, calibrations, and validation of test equipment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with 8+ years of relevant experience, or 2 years post-secondary/associate’s degree with 4+ years of experience.
• Experience with test equipment, schematics, and engineering drawings is expected.
• Active Secret Security clearance is required for this position.

Responsibilities

• Transport test equipment, fixtures, and cables to testing locations.
• Set up tests per documentation and engineering direction.
• Verify calibration of test equipment and licensed software.
• Assemble custom or COTS equipment/fixtures and document failures.
• Execute automated software using LabVIEW and/or TestStand GUIs.
• Troubleshoot failed assemblies with engineering oversight.

Job Description

A client of Innova Solutions is immediately hiring for an Engineering Technician. Position Type: Full-Time Contract, Contract to hire. Duration: 12 months. Location: Palm Bay, FL 32905.

As an Engineering Technician, you will:

• Performs a variety of duties in the electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, and/or optical areas.
• Assists in the design, construction, test and check-out of test equipment.
• Constructs, troubleshoots, calibrates, adjusts, tests, diagnoses, and maintains equipment, components, devices, or systems.
• Works from schematics, operating or repair manuals, engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions.
• May work with complex machines or computer systems.
• Operates related equipment; conducts tests and reports data in prescribed format.
• Performs calibration and alignment checks; makes adjustments, modifications, and replacements as directed; prepares prescribed compounds and solutions.

Essential Functions

• Transport test equipment, fixtures, and cables to required testing locations.
• Setup tests per written documentation and engineering direction.
• Verify all test equipment is in calibration.
• Verify all licensed test software is not expired.
• Assemble custom or COTS equipment/fixtures.
• Performs test and records required information.
• Document failures and reports any anomalies to key stakeholders.
• Executing automated software using LabVIEW and/or TestStand GUIs.
• Troubleshooting failed assemblies with engineering oversight.
• Operate RF, optical and/or digital test equipment including network analyzers, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, noise figure analyzers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, OTDRs, OBRs, lasers, SOAs, BERT, DMMs and power supplies.
• May act as a mentor to lower-level peers and provide guidance on tasks.
• Makes recommendations for solutions on assignments requiring judgment and initiative.
• This Position Needs Active Secret Security clearance.

Preferred Additional Skills

• Excellent communication, technical writing and presentation skills.
• Experience handling very sensitive and fragile hardware, including mating and de-mating high-density connectors, RF, and optical connections.
• Experience with qualification testing, including vibration, thermal and thermal vacuum testing.
• Forklift and Crane Certification/Experience

Ideal candidate will have

• High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/associate’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.

This position is only open to applicants who can be engaged on a W-2 basis.

PAY RANGE AND BENEFITS

Pay Range*: $38-$40 per hour

*Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
