Job summary

The City of Lakewood’s Planning and Public Works Department is seeking an Engineering Technician to support engineering permit reviews and capital projects, including street lighting, traffic signals, and CAD support for designs. You will manage the traffic signal inventory, assign task orders to electrical services contractors, and perform utility locates for City-owned infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Two years of college level courses related to civil engineering and three years of work experience using CAD to design roads, storm drainage, water and/or sewer systems.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review pre-application information for new development proposals; visit site to ascertain conditions and prepare comments based on City codes.
• Review site development plans for compliance with City standards (right-of-ways, sidewalks, curbs, ramps, driveways, roads, storm drainage).
• Review storm drainage reports, traffic impact analyses, and other traffic studies for compliance with City standards.
• Calculate permit fees.
• Coordinate locating City-owned underground infrastructure as part of regional utility notification.
