Job summary

Acro Service Corp seeks Engineering Writers to join a high-performing team developing engineering documentation for advanced military systems, including radar and UAV sensors. You will draft and edit manuals, TRDs and specifications, publish in HTML/XML/SGML formats, and collaborate with engineers and instructors to tailor content to DoD standards.

The role requires a STEM degree, DoD Secret clearance, and 5+ years of engineering writing experience, with proficiency in Arbortext, MadCap Flare,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in STEM discipline or related field.
• Military operations and maintenance experience with radar, communications, electro-optics, networks and information technology-based sensors/systems.

• Expert knowledge with MS Office products.
• Proven ability to manage several tasks simultaneously.

• Minimum of 2 years' experience with structured authoring applications (Arbortext, MadCap Flare, FrameMaker).
• Knowledge of ASD-STE 100 (Simplified Technical English).
• Knowledge of XML, SGML, HTML, S1000D and DITA for structured content.
• DoD Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are seeking Engineering Writers. The successful candidates will join our high-performing team in developing engineering documentation for advanced military systems. These include radars for F-22, F-35, Joint Strike Fighter, F-16, B-1B, MESA, G/ATOR and VADER and other UAV systems.

Responsibilities:

Writes, rewrites and/or edits engineering documents such as technical procedure manuals, test requirement documents (TRDs), user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical information and instructions to a wide range of audiences.

Oversees preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts.

Conducts quality review of materials.

Publish materials in various formats, including page-based, electronic (basic and interactive), structured (HTML, XML, and SGML).

Collaborate with task leads, writers, engineers, and instructors, to develop and deliver sensor/system technical manuals to varying levels of detail and delivery formats.

Perform Desktop Publishing tasks for program/project reports, whitepapers, articles, and other documents.

Research and compile information from program documents, engineering sources, et al. to develop manual outlines and adhere to military/civilian specifications and standards of engineering technical writing.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in STEM discipline or related field
