Job summary

TechDoQuest is seeking a Maintenance Manual Author to create and revise maintenance manuals, using engineering data, drawings, and tests to provide customers with detailed airworthiness instructions.

You will prepare illustration work packages, perform self and peer quality checks, and collaborate with engineers and customer service to validate procedures. Aviation-related degreed candidates are preferred, with strong SGML/XML capabilities.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated administration skills and highly organized with multi-project tracking ability.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite for document production and editing.
• Experience authoring maintenance/technical documents in aviation or related fields.
• Understanding of engineering data and ability to research from drawings and docs.

Job description

This is a writer position, but we need candidates with an emphasis of administration: requires PROVEN skills and DEMONSTRATED examples of being highly organized, multiple project and tracking experience. Also able to use Microsoft suite products proficiently.

Maintenance Manual Author

• Create and revise maintenance documents (maintenance manuals, structural repair manuals, non-destructive testing manuals, tool & equipment manuals and component maintenance manuals) using engineering database information, engineering drawings, functional tests and other sources to provide customers with detailed aircraft continued airworthiness instructions.
• Submit work packages to create illustrations that will accompany maintenance document instructions for use in technical publications.
• Conduct self and peer quality checks of completed work packages for accuracy and consistency.
• Follow established procedures and improve procedures as necessary.
• Collaborate with core teams, engineers and customer service representatives to validate maintenance document procedures.
• Degreed in an aviation related area preferred or equivalent experience authoring technical documents.
• Requires an understanding of engineering data, with an ability to research and analyze engineering drawings and technical documents.
• Experience using SGML/XML, Arbortext, Adobe FrameMaker or equivalent tool in authoring environment.
• Professional and diplomatic demeanor with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
