Job summary

Acro Service Corp seeks Engineering Writers to join a high-performing team developing engineering documentation for advanced military systems, including radar and UAV sensors. You will draft and edit manuals, TRDs and specifications, publish in HTML/XML/SGML formats, and collaborate with engineers and instructors to tailor content to DoD standards.

The role requires a STEM degree, DoD Secret clearance, and 5+ years of engineering writing experience, with proficiency in Arbortext, MadCap Flare,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in STEM discipline or related field.
• Military operations and maintenance experience with radar, communications, electro-optics, networks and information technology-based sensors/systems.
• Engineering background or equivalent military background.
• Expert knowledge with MS Office products.
• Proven ability to manage several tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Possess and maintain DoD Secret clearance.
• Self-starter and engaged team member.
• Minimum of 5 years' engineering writing experience.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience with structured authoring applications (Arbortext, MadCap Flare, FrameMaker).
• Knowledge of ASD-STE 100 (Simplified Technical English).
• Knowledge of XML, SGML, HTML, S1000D and DITA for structured content.
• DoD Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Writes, rewrites and edits engineering documents such as manuals, TRDs and technical publications.
• Oversees preparation of illustrative materials and selects diagrams and charts.
• Conducts quality reviews of materials.
• Publishes materials in page-based and electronic formats (HTML, XML, SGML).
• Collaborates with task leads, engineers, and instructors to develop manuals for sensors/systems.
• Performs desktop publishing for program reports and whitepapers.
• Researches program documents to develop manuals in line with DoD standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
