Responsibilities

The MPS Assistant Project Manager is responsible for providing overall administrative and construction support for our Program Management team.

  • Manage all aspects of project documentation including submittals, RFIs, and project meeting minutes.
  • Supervise and direct overall project activities as assigned by the Head of Programs, including planning, coordinating, resolving problems, and ensuring company/project policies, procedures and standards are followed.
  • Maintain change order, submittal, and document control logs; prepare required logs and documentation for construction meetings.
  • Create contract submittals that are accurate and timely for submission review.
  • Issue the subcontractors' contracts.
  • Prepare and deliver owner and maintenance manuals.
  • Monitor the project quality control plan and document issues for corrective action.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors to obtain correct documentation and drawings for owner and maintenance manuals.
  • Ensure the warranty log is up to date.
  • Represent the company/project in meetings with clients, subcontractors, and others.
  • Assist and technically support field personnel assigned to the area of responsibility.
  • Monitor other contractors’ activities and progress.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college in engineering, architectural engineering, or construction sciences.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of engineering experience.
  • Registration as a licensed US‑based Professional Engineer (P.E.) is required.
  • Field (startup, commissioning and troubleshooting) experience is strongly recommended.
  • Education and experience can be a combination of education, training, and relevant experience.

  • Create job information sheets and establish job files.
  • Assume total project supervision responsibilities in the Program Manager’s absence.
  • Prepare price change orders, project reports and documentation.
  • Work with payroll to ensure accurate payroll information.
  • Knowledge of engineering processes and calculations (load calculations, equipment layout, distribution, lighting layout, power and lighting controls, utility coordination, grounding, value engineering, applicable codes, and standards).
  • Working knowledge of equipment and system testing and commissioning.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex engineering problems.
  • Management skills: work planning, resource management, fee development, staff oversight, staff development and advancement planning.
  • Knowledge of electrical construction sufficient to understand how design packages will be built.
  • Fluency with building and local codes in the project area.

Travel
  • Up to 25% (does not include local field visits).
Working Conditions
  • General work environment – sitting for extended periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending; work primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions.
  • Noise level typically low to medium; can be loud on a job site.
  • Occasional lifting up to 30 lbs.
