Job summary

North Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking an Engineering Supervisor I (NS) to provide technical and administrative support to the Division Maintenance staff. The role includes overseeing maintenance projects, budgeting, and contract administration to ensure program success.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in engineering with three years of progressively responsible experience, plus potential professional registration.

Qualifications

• Knowledge in roadway maintenance, preservation, rehabilitations, design and construction of roadway facilities.
• Experience in tracking cost expenditures in various account systems on multiple large projects.
• Experience conducting meetings with employees, citizens and public officials to investigate and resolve issues.
• Customer service experience related to resolving problems that involve explaining engineering concepts to various customer groups.
• Experience supervising the work of others.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all Maintenance projects such as Secondary Road Construction, Safety, High Impact/Low Cost, Disaster, and Contingency projects.
• Support budgeting, tracking expenditures, generating and analyzing reports.
• Coach peers and maintenance supervisors on effective budget management strategies.
• Develop new contracts for various maintenance functions and administer ID/IQ contracts across the Division.
• Troubleshoot issues within maintenance areas and ensure consistency in policies and procedures.
