Job summary

State of Minnesota's Transportation Department seeks Civil/Construction/Environmental/Geo/Structural Engineering student workers for Summer 2027 across Twin Cities Metro and Greater Minnesota locations.

Open to undergraduates pursuing related degrees who take at least two courses per semester. Roles involve pre-engineering work, engineering office support, and hands-on transportation tasks, with some positions requiring a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Applicant must be an undergraduate student currently pursuing a degree in Civil, Construction, Environmental, Geo, or Structural Engineering OR Land Management.
• Student must be taking two (2) or more classes per semester. Any lesser credit load shall be treated as a semester off. You will be asked to complete an education verification form prior to employment.

Responsibilities

• Assignments may include construction, surveying, design, and project management.
• Assignments may include bridge maintenance, materials, environmental stewardship, water resources, hydraulics, and traffic.
• A valid driver’s license is required for some positions.
