Job summary

Secretariat in Chicago seeks a Mechanical/Aerospace engineer to join our Global Engineering and Scientific consulting team. You will analyze failures of products across industries, focusing on large industrial facilities, and contribute to safety and performance improvements from day one.

The role emphasizes hands-on failure analysis, laboratory testing, field inspections, and clear client communication across time zones.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or similar.
• 1+ years of forensic/root cause analysis is a plus.
• Pursuing PE credentials is a plus.
• Excellent report writing and analytical abilities.
• Excellent listening, verbal, written, technical, and presentation skills.
• Willingness to travel as needed.
• Strong proficiency with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience with FEA/CFD/MBD is a plus.
• Second language knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct hands-on failure analysis investigations.
• Perform laboratory tests and assist with field inspections.
• Assist with client communications across time zones.
• Perform technical analysis and draft report sections.
• Develop rebuttal points and analyze others’ technical reports.
• Build positive relationships with colleagues and clients.
• Manage workloads to meet multiple project milestones and budgets.
