Job Description

T&M Associates is seeking a skilled and experienced Engineering Project Portfolio Manager (PPM) to oversee a collection of civil engineering projects and ensure their alignment with T&M’s organization-wide goals. This opportunity is available in any of our regions including NJ, PA, or OH.

The Project Portfolio Manager will work on projects across all five of T&M’s primary markets, including Transportation, Water, Environmental, Building Services, and Community & Land Development. This individual will collaborate closely with Regional Business Managers, Market Leaders, and project teams to prioritize, manage, and deliver successful projects that support T&M’s strategic objectives in these markets.

This individual will also provide project management mentorship and standards development for T&M’s project management community. PPMs may directly manage projects in addition to overseeing a broader portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Oversight: Provides oversight of projects in their portfolio, monitoring key KPIs such as variance and net labor multiplier. Establishes KPIs and metrics to track project progress and performance, and implements processes for regular reporting and review.
2. Mentorship: Acts as a mentor for project managers within their portfolio and the overall PM community. Conducts regular check-ins to discuss challenges, assess risks, share experiences, and offer guidance.
3. Training and Standards Development: Collaborates with peers and stakeholders to develop standards, best practices, and methodologies for project management.
4. Participation in T&M’s Project Management Community: Contributes actively by sharing knowledge, collaborating, and promoting continuous improvement. Assists in employee development plans related to the PM career pathway.
5. Strategy Development: Helps define vision, goals, and objectives within the PM community to align with overall company strategies. Prioritizes projects based on strategic importance and resource availability.
6. Project Learning: Reflects on lessons learned from past projects to coach and train the PM community.
7. Project Audit and Review: Conducts audits and review meetings for projects within the portfolio.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree required; an advanced degree is a plus.
• Relevant certifications such as PMP, PfMP, PgMP, PMI or PMI-SP are highly preferred.
• Proven experience managing large, complex civil engineering projects with a strong record of performance.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to mentor and develop project management teams.
• Expertise in project management best practices and financial oversight.
• Proficiency in managing multiple stakeholders and resources.
