Jobtailor in Menlo Park, CA seeks an experienced Hardware Project Manager to lead radar hardware programs from design to deployment. You will coordinate mechanical, RF, electrical, and manufacturing teams, driving milestones and delivery across multiple active projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Aerospace, Systems Engineering or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience managing hardware/engineering projects in complex environments.
  • Experience driving hardware projects through design, procurement, build, test and delivery.
  • Strong understanding of hardware lifecycles and release processes.
  • Proven ability to manage schedules, risks, dependencies and deliverables across disciplines.
  • Excellent communication and leadership across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet or similar tools.
  • Eligible for U.S. security clearance and ITAR authorizations.
  • Preferred: Radar, aerospace, defense, satellite, RF, or mission-critical hardware experience.
  • Preferred: Experience with U.S. Government/DoD/Intelligence Community/Space Force.

Responsibilities

  • Drive project execution for radar hardware design, manufacturing, integration, test, and deployment.
  • Translate contract and engineering needs into hardware milestones, schedules, and owners.
  • Develop and maintain integrated hardware project schedules across design, procurement, manufacturing, test, deployment.
  • Track hardware deliverables, risks, dependencies, decisions, and actions across projects.
  • Assess effort, resources, schedules, and priorities with engineering leads.
  • Coordinate execution across Mechanical, RF, Electrical, and Manufacturing teams.
  • Support design reviews, readiness reviews, and major project checkpoints.
  • Maintain project tracking in Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet, MS Project, or equivalent.
  • Provide status reporting on schedule health and risks to hardware leadership.
  • Improve team planning, cadence, documentation, and follow-through.
  • Complete onboarding and learn LeoLabs' radar hardware, projects, and processes.
  • Establish scalable execution model for radar hardware across active efforts.

Job description

  • Drive project execution for radar hardware design, manufacturing, integration, test, and deployment activities
  • Translate contract, program, and engineering needs into clear hardware milestones, deliverables, schedules, and owners
  • Develop and maintain integrated hardware project schedules across design release, procurement, manufacturing, test, and deployment
  • Track hardware deliverables, risks, dependencies, decisions, and action items across multiple active projects
  • Work with technical leads to assess level of effort, resource needs, schedule constraints, and execution priorities
  • Coordinate execution across Mechanical Engineering, RF & Electrical Engineering, and Manufacturing
  • Support design reviews, manufacturing readiness reviews, build readiness reviews, and major project checkpoints
  • Maintain project tracking workflows in Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet, MS Project, or equivalent systems
  • Provide clear status reporting to hardware leadership on schedule health, risks, staffing needs, and execution gaps
  • Help improve the team’s project planning, meeting cadence, documentation, and follow-through
  • Complete onboarding and become familiar with LeoLabs’ radar hardware, active projects, team structure, and development process
  • Establish a scalable project execution model for Radar Hardware and improve planning, tracking, and delivery across active efforts
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 7+ years of experience managing technical projects in hardware, aerospace, defense, robotics, industrial systems, or other complex engineering environments
  • Experience driving hardware projects through design, procurement, build, test, and delivery
  • Strong understanding of hardware development lifecycles, including requirements, design reviews, release processes, manufacturing readiness, integration, and verification
  • Proven ability to manage schedules, risks, dependencies, and deliverables across multiple engineering disciplines
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to drive clarity across technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience working with engineering teams, manufacturing teams, supply chain, suppliers, and program leadership
  • Experience with project tracking tools such as Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet, MS Project, or equivalent systems
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. personnel security clearance
  • Must be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State under ITAR
  • Preferred: Experience supporting radar, aerospace, defense, satellite, RF, communications, or other mission-critical hardware projects
  • Preferred: Experience supporting U.S. Government, DoD, Intelligence Community, or Space Force efforts
  • Preferred: Familiarity with contract deliverables, requirements tracking, and government-facing project execution
  • Preferred: Familiarity with hardware manufacturing, contract manufacturers, production builds, and supplier-driven schedules
  • Preferred: Experience with Arena, NetSuite, Altium, or other hardware development and production systems
  • Preferred: Active U.S. Secret or Top Secret personnel security clearance
  • Preferred: PMP, technical project management certification, or equivalent practical experience
