Job summary

The City of Atlanta, GA is seeking a Project Manager I (Engineering) to lead transportation engineering projects from planning through design and construction, coordinating operations and resources to deliver on time and within budget.

This role demands strong knowledge of project management, budgeting, risk management and stakeholder communication, with the ability to supervise staff and work under general supervision. A valid Georgia driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or related field.
• 2–5 years of related experience.
• Experience managing projects up to $500,000.

Responsibilities

• Review contractors’ journals and inspectors' journals to ensure payment accuracy.
• Plan review of designs, layouts, plans, specifications, estimates and contracts.
• Use project management methods to initiate, plan, execute, monitor and close projects.
• Monitor consultants’ progress and invoices; prepare supplemental agreements.
• Negotiate fees and scope of work with consultants.
• Perform on-site reviews, analyses, tests and provide technical support.
• Plan projects with comprehensive sets of plans to achieve objectives.
• Monitor and control project results against plan.
• Possibly supervise staff.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
