Job summary

City Of Atlanta Careers seeks a Project Manager I (Engineering) to oversee transportation engineering projects from planning through design, coordinating construction, traffic operations and maintenance, and ensuring compliance with federal and state laws and guidelines.

The role requires independent work with limited supervision, on-site reviews, and collaboration with city staff, vendors and contractors to deliver objectives under The Moving Atlanta Forward plan.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in engineering, construction management or related field.
• 2–5 years of related experience.
• Experience managing projects up to $500,000.

Responsibilities

• Reviews contractors’ daily journals and compares with inspectors’ journals for accuracy.
• Plan review of designs, development of layouts, plans, specs and contracts.
• Uses project management processes to initiate, plan, execute, monitor, control and close projects.
• Monitors consultants' progress and work quality, and handles invoices.
• Negotiates fees, scope of work and monitors design contracts.
• Makes on-site engineering reviews, analyses and tests, providing technical support.
• Plans projects with comprehensive sets of plans to meet objectives.
• Monitors and controls project efforts against plan.
• May supervise assigned staff and perform other duties.
