Job summary

City Of Atlanta Careers is seeking a senior transportation engineer to lead complex roadway design and capital improvement projects. You will oversee design reviews, prepare cost estimates, and guide staff and consultants to deliver compliant, high-quality infrastructure solutions.

Responsibilities include ensuring adherence to NACTO guidelines and ADA/PROWAG requirements, coordinating with staff and city departments, and conducting research to apply best practices in transportation design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering is required.
• At least 5 years of experience in surveying, engineering design, inspection and drafting including management.
• Master's degree in civil engineering is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans and designs transportation system solutions.
• Reviews roadway construction plans and provides approvals and recommendations.
• Performs engineering analysis on roadway design projects.
• Prepares exhibits and cost estimates for potential construction design projects informing staff and applicants.
• Responds to RFIs from citizens, council members, city employees, etc.
• Manages staff and design consultants and directs their daily activity.
• Provides technical input, manages budgets, and attends project meetings.
• Ensures plans adhere to federal, state, local standards including NACTO guides.
• Conducts research to apply best practices in safe, cost-effective transportation design.
