Job summary

City of Atlanta seeks a senior civil engineer to manage professional/technical transportation projects, oversee design, review standards, survey work, and inspections. This role leads major capital improvement design efforts to keep Atlanta's infrastructure functional for citizens and businesses.

You will supervise staff and design consultants, provide technical input, ensure compliance with federal/state/local standards (NACTO, ADA/PROWAG), and mentor junior engineers while advancing projects

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• At least 5 years of experience in surveying, engineering design, inspection and drafting, including management experience.
• Preferred: master’s degree and 5 years of experience in surveying, engineering design, inspection and drafting including management experience.

Responsibilities

• Plans and designs solutions to transportation challenges and problems in the roadway system.
• Reviews roadway construction plans, approves, and makes recommendations.
• Manages staff and design consultants and directs their daily activity.
• Prepares exhibits and cost estimates for construction design projects and informs staff and applicants.
• Responds to RFIs from citizens, council members, city employees, etc.
• Ensures plans adhere to federal, state, and local roadway design standards (NACTO, ADA/PROWAG).
