Job summary

The City of Fort Lauderdale’s Public Works Department is hiring an Engineering Project Manager to lead design and construction of water and wastewater infrastructure projects. You will oversee consultants and contractors, ensure on-time delivery, and manage budgets across multiple municipal projects.

A Bachelor’s degree in construction management or civil engineering and a minimum of three years’ public works experience are required, with PMP or Florida PE preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or civil engineering.
• Minimum of three (3) years' experience in construction management and/or public works engineering, water and wastewater infrastructure.
• Additional qualifying coursework or experience may substitute for part of the required years.

Responsibilities

• Manage engineering consultants and contractors during design and construction of water and wastewater projects.
• Oversee multiple municipal public works and utility projects across planning, design, permitting, bidding, construction, and warranty phases.
• Develop construction-level design plans and calculations.
• Prepare and manage RFPs, RFQs, and bidding documents in compliance with codes.
• Review plans, specs, and estimates; evaluate bids and approve pay requests.
• Monitor scope, budget, and schedule; prepare reports for management and stakeholders.
