Job summary

Checkr’s Verifications team is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a broad portfolio of employment, education, drug and health verifications and compliance products. You will scale data quality, automate workflows, and balance rapid delivery with regulatory requirements in a data-sensitive environment.

You will guide technical direction, manage the team, and collaborate with Product and Compliance to shape the roadmap.

Qualifications

• 4+ years as engineering manager responsible for high-performing teams.
• 8+ years as software engineer with service architecture and distributed systems experience.
• Experience managing complex third-party integration environments.
• Track record of improving operational metrics in production systems.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and practices.
• Experience with regulated products demanding data accuracy and compliance.
• Strong incident management and stakeholder communications.
• Ability to prioritize quickly with a clear framework.
• Excellent cross-functional collaboration and people development.
• Humility and willingness to learn; strong ownership mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the Verifications engineering team, setting technical direction and hiring pipelines.
• Own reliability and quality of a broad portfolio of fulfillment integrations with vendors and stakeholders.
• Partner with Product to define and execute roadmaps across verification products.
• Drive technical strategy to scale a complex, integration-heavy system.
• Lead adoption of AI-assisted development practices while maintaining quality.
• Represent Verifications in cross-functional planning with Product, Compliance, and leadership.
