Job summary

Horizon3 is hiring an Engineering Manager to lead the team behind NodeZero Tripwires. You will guide the delivery of deceiving defenses, alerting, and the customer-facing experience while collaborating with Product and the Attack team.

You will recruit and mentor engineers, own architecture decisions, and ensure operational excellence with SLOs and observability across a large data platform rebuild.

Qualifications

• Experience leading backend or platform engineering teams and delivering shipping products.
• Strong fundamentals in backend systems, data modeling, API design, queues/streams, and tradeoffs between batch and streaming.
• Comfort with modern cloud infrastructure, containers, and observability tooling.
• Ability to guide through ambiguity, facilitate design discussions, and own delivery.
• Excellent written communication for roadmaps, design docs, and postmortems.

Responsibilities

• Own the delivery strategy for Tripwires, including decoy and deception development, detection, alerting, and user experience.
• Partner with Product to sequence the roadmap and expand Tripwires coverage.
• Recruit, mentor, and retain engineers focused on distributed systems and security.
• Oversee new tripwire types attractive to attackers and indistinguishable from legitimate assets.
• Invest in SLOs, observability, on-call, and incident response.
• Collaborate with the Attack team to translate offensive findings into detection coverage.
• Establish design reviews, API contracts, and durable decision records.
